CEREC Same Day Crowns Wilsonville OR

CEREC Crowns provided by Boones Landing Dental Center in Wilsonville, OR

Dental assistant assisting with CEREC technology from Boones Landing Dental Center in Wilsonville, ORLosing a tooth or having a badly damaged tooth can be a stressful time. You want a natural-looking smile without having to worry about the strength and durability of that tooth. Dental crowns are typically made from either ceramic, composite resin, metal alloy (gold, nickel, or silver), porcelain, or porcelain-fused-to-metal. Crowns have been a traditional solution to strengthening a damaged tooth, but can sometimes take up to two weeks to have placed.

CEREC Crowns, or Chairside Economical Restoration and Esthetic Ceramic crowns, are a technologically advanced solution to the traditional crowns most people are aware of. At Boones Landing Dental Center, our same day crowns dentist is expertly trained in the technology to design, produce, and place CEREC crowns. Placed and created using computer-assisted technology, this process is often completed in just one office visit.

What is a CEREC Crown?

In general terms, a dental crown is a small, tooth-shaped cap that fits over your tooth. Dental crowns can be used for a variety of reasons such as fixing a broken tooth, correcting a misshapen tooth, or supporting a tooth when a filling isn't able to seal or heal the tooth. It is also a solution to hide a discolored tooth that a teeth whitening treatment cannot solve. A CEREC crown, however, is just one type of crown that our dentists use to solve these problems. Created in 1985, these crowns have gone on to become a standard of care for anyone who needs a crown but does not want to wait two weeks to have the crown created, which is generally how long crowns can take to be made. Our team can guarantee a same-day crown procedure that will only require one visit to our office to have a dental crown placed.

Why You Might Need a CEREC Crown

A CEREC crown is a technologically advanced version of the traditional crown. Like a traditional crown, it is used to protect a tooth, to restore a broken or damaged tooth, and even hold a dental bridge. These crowns are designed to look natural and be a custom fit to your smile. Most people will not even notice your tooth has a crown.

What is the CEREC Crown Procedure?

Unlike a normal crown procedure, placing CEREC crowns is usually completed in just one office visit. These crowns were developed as a same-day procedure. This helps you get in and out of the dental office and on with your day. Our dentists use both computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to take digital images of your tooth and bite, design the crown, and produce it, all in one day.

Our dentist will take digital pictures of your teeth and bite and focus on the tooth that requires a crown. You will decide with our dentist on the correct shade for your tooth to ensure the most natural-looking crown. A model is created using CAD technology from the digital images captured. Then, a machine takes this model and creates a 3-D tooth out of ceramic using CAM technology. It takes around 15 minutes for a tooth to be produced. Our dentists will then place the crown on the tooth that needs the crown and polish it to match the nearby teeth. This swift turnaround time removes the need for a temporary crown and takes up less of the patient's time.

Benefits of CEREC Crowns

There are many benefits associated with a CEREC crown that can vastly outweigh those of a traditional crown.

The first benefit of a CEREC crown is our staff's ability to create and place the crown on the same visit.

While the crown is being created, our staff will work on shaving down your tooth so the crown can fit over it. Around the time we finish this step, the CAM machine has created the new crown. We then place the crown over the tooth and cement and seal it on your tooth. You can then leave your appointment and resume your daily activities without having to return for a second visit.

Aesthetics and Strength

The advantage of a CEREC crown is seen in both the appearance and durability of the crown. A CEREC crown more closely resembles a natural tooth than a normal crown since it is created from a 3D image of your tooth and jaw structure. Since it's made from ceramic, CEREC is strong, durable and long-lasting. It also resembles and feels like natural teeth. As it doesn't have metal support, it would be difficult for people to notice that you have undergone a dental procedure and that you are wearing a crown.

In contrast, a typical crown is created from an impression, which is less likely to be a perfect match and often requires our staff to make alterations once we put it into place.

CEREC crowns are often more durable and resilient compared to other solutions. The CEREC system makes your crown more likely to last, which means fewer visits to our office to have a crown restored from unforeseen damages. CEREC crowns can last up to 15 years, which makes them a long lasting choice.

How to Care for Your CEREC Crown

Fortunately, caring for a CEREC crown is no different from caring for any other dental crown or even your natural teeth. Your CEREC crown will require the same brushing, flossing, and rinsing that your natural teeth need in order to maintain a healthy smile.

CEREC Near Me

Crowns are beneficial in restoring function and preventing infection after major dental procedures. They help you with your everyday activities, like speaking and eating. Dental crowns also help to restore your mouth to a more normal look. The accuracy and comfort of a CEREC crown is often superior to that of a regular crown.

If you are unhappy with a damaged or broken tooth, consider CEREC crowns as a natural-looking solution. Contact Boones Landing Dental Center today, at (503) 601-0610. Our staff will help determine if you are eligible for a CEREC crown or a CEREC implant.
