Food Stuck In Teeth Boones Landing Dental Center OR 97070-7845
Unfortunately for many people, there are a lot of instances where items can end up getting stuck between the teeth. For the most part, these tend to be pieces of food.

Both brushing and flossing are standard procedures that people will use to ensure that nothing remains between the teeth, but sometimes even these methods don't help. In addition, it can end up being quite painful. It is for this reason that people need to know how to gently remove the items without causing further damage and pain.

What To Do If Something Gets Trapped Between The Teeth

Having something between your teeth can be painful and irritating, so you will probably want to remove it as fast as possible. You also do not want to end up causing more damage.

Make sure that you avoid any sharp implements (toothpicks generally tend to be a little blunt, or can be made blunt, so they are a good instrument to consider). Pins are considered by some people, but we would strongly recommend that you avoid using them as they can end up damaging the gums.

Before picking out the object, make sure to try and loosen it if you can. Objects can end up being quite big, and this can be done with a blunt instrument or even if some hot water. Hot water, additionally, will serve to soothe the gums. Using dental floss to work the object back and forth over a period of time can also help.

In most cases, it is quite easy to remove items from between your teeth at home without causing any further damage. However, if you still can't get at it then it may be a good idea to come and speak to us.
